Why Singapore SMBs need managed backup

The risk profile for a Singapore small business is specific. Most SMBs run a mix of on-premises and SaaS — staff workstations, a file server or NAS in the office, Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace in the cloud. Each of those is a separate data store with its own failure modes. Each needs its own backup. None of them back themselves up.

The Singapore Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) requires organisations to make reasonable security arrangements to prevent unauthorised access, collection, use, disclosure, copying, modification, disposal, or similar risks to personal data. The loss of personal data — through accidental deletion, ransomware, hardware failure, or account compromise — falls within those risks.
